ESFAHAN Iran – 163 x 110 cm, Hand-knotted Oriental rug in wool and silk, very fine, without central medallion, on a beige background, dark border. Sold with its certificate of authenticity, in very good condition. The rug is professionally cleaned. Can be collected on site. ESFAHAN : These rugs are made in the city of Isfahan in south-west Iran. The motifs are often inspired by mosaics or the city’s gardens and palaces. Ispahan is known for its fine, often extremely dense Senneh knotted rugs, some of which are warped with silk threads. The material is predominantly wool. The colours are of the highest quality. The motifs consist of medallions with palmettes and arabesques, Shah Abbas motifs, but there are also figurative motifs.
